Providing tailored choices for you and your loved one

At Grave Expectations, we understand that saying goodbye is deeply personal and needs to represent the life lived.

We also know that navigating funeral arrangements can be overwhelming.

Grave Expectations believe that every farewell should be as unique as the individual it honours.

Our mission is to provide empathy, humanity and choice, enabling families to create exactly the kind of funeral their loved one would have wanted.

Kind Words

We were unfortunate enough to need Beccy’s services, but I for one will be forever grateful that we had the support, guidance and advice to help us through one of the hardest times in our life. Highly recommend if ever you find yourself navigating the loss of a loved one.

Our Values and Beliefs

A new approach to funeral care

At Grave Expectations, we believe in ….

Building a Bespoke Funeral

Instead of preset, traditional funeral packages, we work with families to tailor every detail to their specific requirements. The result is a personal experience guided by your wishes, values and needs.

Kind, Supportive Guidance

We present all options with clarity and care, in an unrushed, relaxed manner. Take your time, it needs to be right.

Open and Transparent Pricing

We refuse to exploit grief and believe that funeral costs should never be confusing. Our pricing is fully transparent, with no hidden fees or unnecessary extras. We provide honest advice to help you make informed choices that are right for you and your family.

Sustainability

We work with local, independent suppliers to ensure that the services we provide are environmentally conscious. We offer options such as biodegradable coffins and natural burials for those who wish to leave a lighter footprint.

How we work with you

A Guided Experience

We’re with you at every step.

01 / Register the Death

We can’t do this part for you, but we can guide you through it as you begin arranging the funeral. For a step-by-step guide, please follow this link https://www.gov.uk/after-a-death, and do contact us at any time if there is something you are unsure of.

02 / Meet with us

Reach out to arrange a consultation in person, over the phone or via video call. We are here to listen, answer your questions and guide you through the options, to create a farewell that feels fitting.

03 / Plan a Service

Together, we’ll design a personal and meaningful service. You can choose from a burial or cremation and select music, readings and natural coffins or shrouds. Every detail is handled with care and transparency, as we want to get it just right.

04 / The Funeral Service

On the day, we’ll be by your side, ensuring everything runs smoothly to allow you to focus on remembering your loved one.

About Katy & Beccy

Bringing you loving choices

Grave Expectations was founded by lifelong friends, Katy and Beccy, who grew up together in Chesterfield. By the age of 16, they had already formed a vision of creating a funeral service that dealt with death differently and gave greater choice than traditional provision.

Beccy has worked in the funeral industry for many years, initially as a Funeral Arranger for a large funeral company. However, it was in her years working at a woodland burial ground that she forged a deep passion for sustainable and holistic funeral practices. This helped Beccy develop her ideas about giving families the most thoughtful, meaningful ways of saying goodbye.

Beccy believes in the power of choice, helping families explore all options and supporting them in making decisions that feel right. She is dedicated to providing a warm, personal and compassionate service that respects both the wishes of the deceased and the needs of those left behind.

Katy’s background is in art, design and photography, and she worked as a teacher before building a successful interior design career with Howson Design. However, she always felt drawn to working with families in a more personal way, to support them with what is intrinsically human.

A passionate advocate for creative expression as a means of processing grief, Katy offers art therapy workshops as part of the Grave Expectations offering. These sessions provide a space for individuals to express emotions, find comfort and remember their loved ones through less verbal methods than traditional grief counselling.

Kind Words

Beccy and Katy were amazing. From the first moment meeting them I knew that they were going to make such a difficult time a relaxing and warm experience. Their care and compassion was second to none and they explained all the finer details ensuring nothing was missed. No one enjoys planning a funeral, but these ladies showed such warmth and obviously take great pride in helping people at the saddest times in their life.
